My journey through chronic pain

Small World

The past few days I’ve been driving across South Dakota and Minnesota. I’ve met quite a few people who are on road trips, just like me, but they all have someone they’re traveling with, not like me. The coolest moment was when I pulled off at a scenic overlook, in the Badlands National Park, to take some pictures and this kid walks past me, to go to his car, and then I hear this, “New York?! Are you serious?!” I turn around and he’s got NY plates on his car!! He’s from near Cooperstown and his girlfriend is from Lake Placid. It was the coolest thing to meet people from home in South Dakota.

Speaking of South Dakota… If you are traveling through the Black Hills area I highly recommend taking a trip through the Badlands National Park, go to Wall Drug in Wall (it’s a complete tourist trap but it’s totally cool, I got an awesome cowboy hat and a pair of suede cowboy boots and a matching bag while I was there), go to the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, the Crazy Horse Memorial in Custer and, of course, Mount Rushmore. OH!! And Bear Country, USA in Rapid City, it’s a drive-thru zoo…loved it!

You’d think that after being on the road for 37 days that I’d be kinda ready to come home…surprisingly, I’m soooo not ready. I think that could be because I’m having a rendezvous with the Mom and Daddy in San Francisco next week. NEXT WEEK!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!! I get to see my parentals AND I can stay with them the whole time I’m sight-seeing through the San Francisco area. How awesome is that?!?! I did a little happy dance today when I figured out I was going to be there the same time they are. 😀 😀 😀 😀

On that note…it’s time to finish my bottle of wine and go to bed…
